Connecting your accounts, what Birdsong reads from each one, and how to take it all back.
Connecting an account
Sign in, open Connections, and choose the platform. You are sent to that platform’s own sign-in page to approve it, so Birdsong never sees your password. Connecting is optional, you choose which accounts to connect, and you can disconnect any of them at any time.
You connect your own accounts. Birdsong does not create accounts for you and cannot connect one you do not already have access to.
What Birdsong reads from each platform
What it reads. Clicks, impressions and search positions from Search Console, and sessions, visitors, page views and where your traffic came from, from Google Analytics, for the website you already own.
Where it shows up. Your dashboard, so search traffic sits next to the enquiries it produced.
Meta (Facebook and Instagram)
What it reads. The performance figures for your own Page and Instagram account and its posts: reach, impressions, views, likes, comment and share counts, saves, follower numbers, and the date and type of each post. If you connect an ad account, it also reads campaign and ad names, spend, impressions, clicks, results and cost per result.
Where it shows up. Your followers, your best posts and what your ads cost per result.
TikTok
What it reads. Your own account's follower count and the public figures for your own videos, so you can see which ones worked.
Where it shows up. Your follower count and your best-performing videos.
What Birdsong never does
- It does not read the personal details of the people who follow, like, comment on or click your posts and ads. It reads counts and totals, not the individuals behind them.
- It does not read your private messages, your friends or contacts, or anyone's profile.
- It does not post, publish, comment, reply or message anyone. Posting is done by a person, in the platform's own app.
- It does not spend money on your behalf, and it does not create or change your campaigns.
Disconnecting an account
Open Connections and press Disconnect next to the platform. The connection and the access token Birdsong stored for it are deleted, no further figures are collected from that account, and the figures already collected from it are deleted with it.
Only that platform is affected, and only the part that came from it. Your own posts, leads, customers, bookings, quotes and website audit are untouched, and you can reconnect later and start collecting again. If something has been missed, email hello@birdcagegroup.com and we will action it and confirm when it is done. Closing your account removes everything.
Getting your data out, or deleting it
Everything Birdsong holds for your business can be downloaded as a single file from Settings, and your account can be closed from the same place. The full steps, including what deletion removes and what it cannot undo, are on the Data Deletion page.
If you are a customer of a business that uses Birdsong, rather than an account holder, contact that business directly. They hold your details and they decide what happens to them. That is explained in section 3 of the Privacy Policy.
